It Is Corona

mahnaz Badihian

Corona Came,

crueler than criminals

more robust than a cannon and a gun

more significant than the world economy

and redder than Stalin’s Guards

Corona comes to teach us lessons

more important than

the experiences of  Rumi

bigger than Plato,s advice

Corona scared us away to hide

in the holes of our houses all alone

we felt more hungry than

people in hungry lands

rushed to fill our boxes

with bread and cheese

fill our bowls with food and seeds

attack the shops filled with

fear and despair

Corona comes

to empty the streets

and hide our money under

the fear of death

Corona comes

with hands that do not

differentiate between black and white

poor and rich

powerful and powerless

Came to relive the suffocated breath of nature

to calm the wounded plains

to revive the sick nature from pollution

Corona comes

to give the inhabitants of the world relief

from greed

Corona had come to strip us naked

of pride and prejudice

corona was more significant

than all of us and so small

that wasn’t visible

and so big that every day

carried hundreds of people with him

to bury them in a mass graves

    Tough Times Bring Us Together

I notice everyone posting about the dreadful idea of social distancing
Cribbing about how they can’t step out of their homes
Unable to celebrate life as it were meant to be celebrated
This thought was quite ironic, paradoxical and hilarious
The term social distancing was contradictory to its meaning
Look at it through the glass of reality, hope and positivity
You’ll realise how it makes our lives slow, the way lives should be lived
Celebrating each moment and being grateful for whatever we have
A life that is absent of any complaints, hopelessness and devastation
Rather spending time with close family and best friends
That really united us, brought us together in one place
Giving each individual the time to deeply, thoroughly contemplate
Discover and learn new aspects of themselves and others
Slowing them down for once unlike rest of the fast-paced days
Providing them the opportunity to pursue their hobbies and passions
Making new memories that can be cherished later in life
Playing board games, creating art, listening to music
Working on self-care, mental health and admiring the closeness with life
Understanding what it means to be fully alive and count our blessings
Remembering the privilege of our homes and opening up to communication
Living in the present, learning to create something new and grow
Catching up with themselves and their lives on a whole
Living lives the way we should every day, the ideal, dream life
Proving that beauty can be seen in any situation making dream a reality

Poem of a Pencil with sharpener
Depicting the hard times but is still postive.
I thought my this words can relate to the current corona situation.
    EDGE OF BLADE !!
I can write billions of words .
But who will write about me.

Who says , pain will lower you?
Ask me the secret of my edge .

Fallen particles will narrate my story .
    Scrap will depict my life.

On the edge of blade ,I sharpen myself.
Glance at me . You will see my sharpness .

No matter how hardships you face, you will rise and will write a new story again.

Should I blame the blade for the pain .
Or should I praise the blade for the edge.
    Choice is yours !!
