BLACK MASQUE
________________

Slip into black clothes
And most importantly, your masque
Before you lies
A most daunting task

Wars for conquest
Bioengineered crops
Spreading global Capitalism—–
Here’s where it stops

The streets are coloured
In a surge of black
On palaces of the rich
You wage the attack

Banks, shops, skyscrapers
All symbols of wealth
Generators of revenue
Attributes to this system’s health

Smashed under the weight
Of rocks, kicks & blows
Whatever it takes to leave
Capitalism in death throes

The state responds—–
Armoured police advance
To guard ruling class interests—–
On with the swift violent dance

Another battle in the avenues
Another steel fence torn
Amidst the gas & debris,
Another victory will be born

Because without you,
Social movements wouldn’t persist
Without you,
There’d be no courage to resist.
