For Zohreh Kabiri By: Atefeh Chaharmahalian/ Translated from Farsi by Mahnaz Badihian
For Zohreh Kabiri Niyat, who was acquitted of stoning after two years of sentencing.
By; Atefeh Chaharmahalian
I bought you clothe, Zohreh.
You’re back from the dead, and you are wearing nothing
Now with what brain do you want to return to life?
And not grow from the pits next to the sun
And without hate
You gave fire to your saplings
All we see is a superficial vengeance.
And still, my veins shoot the enemy.
You’ve tied your clothes to the shrine.
You still vowed to sacrifice your lips to someone.
You’re a tree if you’re a bird.
Sunny if the sky
And you run to disappear.
You ran away from what smelled of old.
Zohreh, I know after a while, the oppression becomes a local wound
It becomes a crazy tone of insults
Or a little column on Google with 80 quick hits a day.
Removing the innocence of the world leaves us with a street and a bunch of crazies.
Before they ask your name, they suck your finger out of gourmet blood.
Tell all the alleys you’re a plum and innocent.
Do you see?
I’m dying to make my words thirsty.
To smell themselves,
Be of morning
Who brings someone back from the platoon.
Will you come back?
Later, dawn shines into the stones you embrace.
I’ll hide the healthy cell in my shackles later.
Enough?
Is that enough in my bright lantern to bend over dark clothes?
That’s the picture.
That halfway you said don’t throw stones into the sea because of me.
Now you’re in these pictures all around me
I think you’re looking at cats.
I think cats are looking down the street.
Street under candlelight
Passes our eyes with different lines
I think the sun.
At night
Become brighter, Zohreh.
