a microphone inside my head
static plays mad tunes on my tongue
a lonely grasshopper without wings

—– a. d. winans

your memory haunts me
the way you looked at me
when undressing for bed
the way the moon light
peaked through the window shades
the first time we made love
leaving me feeling like a voyeur
resting in God’s favorite rocking chair

  1.

A.D., the grand master of imagery, always gives his readers images that remain long after the page is turned. He’s my favorite living poet and one of my all-time favorite poets.
