[Revolutionary] statement/ —Jack Hirschman

The Coordinating Committee of the World Poetry Movement strongly condemns the

bombing and imminent invasion of Gaza by

the government of Israel and its armed forces.

In no way can Palestinian rocket attacks be

construed as giving license to Israel’s “self-

defense” and its all-out massacre of the Pal-estinian people. Palestine in fact is OCCUPIED

by Israel. It is Israel, with the support of the

imperialist government of the United States,

which has sanctioned the continuous misery

and humiliation of the Palestinian people. The

people of the world understand this, and poets throughout the world, whose poems often speak for those without voice, denounce the present

injustice of Israel, a bully nation whose murder

of Palestinians and especially Palestine’s brave

children is certainly deserving of the strongest

denunciation. We demand an immediate cease-

fire of the Israeli aggression.

 

As the Coordinating Committee member of the

World Poetry Movement representing the Uni-

ted States, and as a member of the Revolutionary

Poets Brigade (RPB) of San Francisco, I write this in solidarity with the World Poetry Movement in

its condemnation of the state of Israel.
