He is a poet, journalist, and professor of Political Philosophy.  His poems have appeared in numerous anthologies since 1963.  Between 1970 and 1973 he worked in the Palacio de la Moneda (the equivalent of the White House in the US) as a journalist in the Office of Presidential Information.  He has been a literature critic in several leading newspapers both in Chile and Argentina.  He has received numerous distinguished honors and awards and has published numerous books of poetry, his most recent being \u201cRumbo a Corf\u00fa\u201d (Heading <br \/>\nToward Corfu) which was published in 2007.  <\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI Will Not Give Anyone a Lethal Drug\u2026\u201d *<\/p>\n<p>Here I am alone with my potions, my scalpels,<br \/>\nmy broken nails, my spatterings.<br \/>\nHere with my uneasy conscience.<br \/>\nHere with my disturbed world.<\/p>\n<p>Here with my naked corpse on top of the marble<br \/>\nAnd time which should be abolished here.<br \/>\nWe are the same.
