Below are two of her poems translated  from Spanish to English by  Andr\u00e9s Alfaro.<br \/>\n <!--more--><b>Us in Hologram<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We meet up at 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>I take you to a place<br \/>\nto which you will never think of returning.<\/p>\n<p>I try to make you dance.<br \/>\nBut you don&#8217;t know how<br \/>\nto dress lightly,<br \/>\nnor breathe<br \/>\nin such humidity.<\/p>\n<p>From afar,<br \/>\nsomeone is watching us.<br \/>\nHe imagines that you and I<br \/>\ngo out often.<\/p>\n<p>That I love you.<\/p>\n<p>And that pleases him.<\/p>\n<p><b>Yes, the American Dream Does Exist<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I like to hide,<br \/>\nI go out without makeup,<br \/>\nhair in my face,<br \/>\nwith whatever clothes on<br \/>\njust to walk along some street<br \/>\nand arrive at a building.<\/p>\n<p>There I am rewarded for not doing anything<br \/>\nand talking with people that I don&#8217;t know<br \/>\ndespite recognizing their voices.<\/p>\n<p>The conversations take place quickly,<br \/>\nmechanical, more habitual<br \/>\nas time passes.<\/p>\n<p>Eager for something to happen,<br \/>\nafter the working day,<br \/>\nI return home.<br \/>\nI find,<br \/>\nat long last!<br \/>\nFamiliar faces on television.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Costa rican poet Paula Piedra has published one book of poetry called Mental Exercises.
