{"id":405,"date":"2009-03-17T08:59:40","date_gmt":"2009-03-17T08:59:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/?p=405"},"modified":"2009-03-17T08:59:40","modified_gmt":"2009-03-17T08:59:40","slug":"cyclical-hunt-by-andres-alfaro","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/archive-english\/cyclical-hunt-by-andres-alfaro\/","title":{"rendered":"Cyclical Hunt  by  Andr\u00e9s Alfaro"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"rightbox\"><img src='https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/media\/2\/20090317-norouz.jpg' width='136' height='91' alt='' \/><\/div>\n<p>\n<b>She is awakening\u2026 <br \/>\nHundreds of robins take wing<br \/>\nThe sky is stretching off the sleep<br \/>\nThat had paralyzed it<\/b><!--more--> &#8212;&#8211;<\/p>\n<p><b>Cyclical Hunt <\/b><\/p>\n<p>The shy beast stretches her brilliant claws toward<\/p>\n<p>The last defenses of the chill night air<\/p>\n<p>She has been dormant for too long. <\/p>\n<p>She is awakening\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of robins take wing<\/p>\n<p>The sky is stretching off the sleep<\/p>\n<p>That had paralyzed it<\/p>\n<p>And woven it away for too long. <\/p>\n<p>She is coming\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>Electric tentacles are sparkling<\/p>\n<p>Upon the dew soaked country grass<\/p>\n<p>It quivers in the tireless struggle<\/p>\n<p>That has occupied it for too long. <\/p>\n<p>She is prowling\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>Ant colonies burst into action<\/p>\n<p>Tiny cellular urgency drives the engines<\/p>\n<p>That spark the revolt<\/p>\n<p>That has dominated them for too long. <\/p>\n<p>She is rising\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a bitter reunion<\/p>\n<p>For the decrepit old man<\/p>\n<p>Who wallows in his misery and<\/p>\n<p>Who once again has overstayed his welcome<\/p>\n<p>For far too long. <\/p>\n<p>She is pouncing\u2026 <\/p>\n<p>The dreary monotony has shattered over<\/p>\n<p>Volcanic waters<\/p>\n<p>Chaotic, riotous and frenzied. <\/p>\n<p>Harmony has sprung upon life. <\/p>\n<p>\nAndr\u00e9s Alfaro is a poet, musician and Spanish-English translator.  He received his B.A. in Spanish Literature from the University of Iowa.  He lived the majority of his life in Iowa City, IA but has also lived in Costa Rica and recently moved to San Francisco, CA to further concentrate on poetry and music.
