Two slits on the side.<br \/>\nI had one exactly like it,<br \/>\nbut it was purple with two patch <br \/>\npockets. One winter, I stored it <br \/>\nuntil spring. It was lost. I snatch <br \/>\nthis black one off the rack. I want <br \/>\nit mostly for memory. I wore<br \/>\nthat purple dress when my life was <br \/>\nless complex. I was single.<br \/>\nI want to recapture that, but<br \/>\nthis new dress is stiff. It scratches <br \/>\nmy back. I want to wear it sans<br \/>\nbrassiere but it demands support.<br \/>\nNo matter, soon it, too, will be lost. <br \/>\n<!--more--><b>UNPLUGGED<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The day my iPod broke,<br \/>\nI brought it to the cool, cubed <br \/>\nApple store<\/p>\n<p>The &#8216;genius&#8217; behind the bar <br \/>\nquipped that it had been broken<br \/>\nby Alanis Morisette or Lucinda Williams <\/p>\n<p>They are both so angry,<br \/>\nhe said, They are both so angry<\/p>\n<p>And I was tired <br \/>\nand I was cranky <br \/>\nbut I wanted my music back,<br \/>\nso I simply glowered<\/p>\n<p>But I was jealous of Alanis <br \/>\nI was jealous of Lucinda\u2014<br \/>\ntheir anger had broken something<\/p>\n<p>The rest of us are just<br \/>\nunsuccessfully angry<br \/>\nscowling as the world revolves<br \/>\nblithely ignoring injustice<\/p>\n<p>The rest of us are like<br \/>\nAndrea Dworkin once angry <br \/>\nso very angry<br \/>\nnow dead <\/p>\n<p>www.JulieREnszer.com<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>BLACK DRESS by Julie Enszer Linen, long.
