Bush<\/b><\/p>\n<p><i>by Jerry Judge<br \/>\n<\/i><br \/>\nI\u2019m a pacifist (usually) and besides<br \/>\nthere would be scores of Secret Service men<br \/>\nmeasuring my every move \u2013 especially my hands.<\/p>\n<p>\n<!--more-->No. It wouldn\u2019t be physical, but I would yearn <br \/>\nto say something that would pierce him<br \/>\nfor almost forever like depleted uranium.<\/p>\n<p>Yet, what could I say or show<br \/>\nthat would impact a mind and soul<br \/>\nwrapped in denial\u2019s impregnable armor?<\/p>\n<p>Like an armadillo bumping around<br \/>\nfeeling nothing, the President<br \/>\nmeanders on at our peril.<\/p>\n<p><b>The Last Ghazal<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The night sulks after betrayal by the day &#8211;<br \/>\ndarkness without the relief of even one star.<\/p>\n<p>Her sleep is restless like a herd of prey.<br \/>\nHe sleeps like the stone of eternity.<\/p>\n<p>Early sun more brilliant than ever before.<br \/>\nEven in the darkest cave a memory stirs.<\/p>\n<p>There are no secrets in this bright sun.<br \/>\nThe guilty fear time has exposed them.<\/p>\n<p>Such an array of weapons for nature&#8217;s use &#8211;<br \/>\nperhaps a massive quake to swallow mistakes.<\/p>\n<p><b>Terror<\/b><\/p>\n<p>small animals shriek \u2013<br \/>\nthe hoot owl\u2019s<br \/>\nmidnight forest feast<\/p>\n<p>children in war time \u2013<br \/>\nif they live<br \/>\nthey\u2019ll scream when they dream<\/p>\n<p>bully after school \u2013<br \/>\njust grinning<br \/>\nat terror\u2019s profit<\/p>\n<p><i><br \/>\nJerry Judge is a poet and social worker from Cincinnati, Ohio. He is the author of three poetry chapbooks and has published in many literary journals.
