{"id":305,"date":"2007-07-20T11:01:40","date_gmt":"2007-07-20T11:01:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/?p=305"},"modified":"2007-07-20T11:01:40","modified_gmt":"2007-07-20T11:01:40","slug":"poems-by-leah-aronoff","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/archive-english\/poems-by-leah-aronoff\/","title":{"rendered":"Poems by Leah Aronoff"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"rightbox\"><img src='https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/media\/7\/20070720-swirl.jpg' width='175' height='179' alt='www.braininjurywales.com\/brain_injury.html' \/><\/div>\n<p>\n<b> Eventful Turns<\/b><br \/>\n<i>by Leah Aronoff<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Enigmatic, sudden, irrational shifting swirls,<br \/>\nflashes of synapses in the nervous system.<br \/>\nIs it complexity or the whistling surge of power that exhilarates?<!--more-->An erratic whirl of a small flock of pigeons,<br \/>\nviewed from below,<br \/>\nis a prosaic, silly dance.<br \/>\nA dark mass that can\u2019t make up its mind.<br \/>\nA  delicate flock of small white birds,<br \/>\ndancing over a sand bar framed in sparkling water,<br \/>\nevokes the magic of a sardine school,<br \/>\nblindly echoing shore bird moves<br \/>\nin its blue, wet world.<br \/>\nIrrational movement has a place in my brain forever.<br \/>\nTo find peace and beauty, I return to the shore,<br \/>\nthe light, and the mystery of the small white birds.<\/p>\n<p>  <b>     Post McCarthy<\/b><\/p>\n<p>I wanted friends and family<br \/>\nto be as angry as I.<br \/>\nI wanted to scream injustice to the world.<br \/>\nI wanted to shake some people<br \/>\nand kill some others.<\/p>\n<p>But I was silent.<br \/>\nMy husband worried that if word got out,<br \/>\nhis patients would desert him.<br \/>\nI thought, were they  lemmings?<br \/>\nBut in light of our newly achieved<br \/>\nfreedom from debt,<br \/>\nthere might be support for silence.<\/p>\n<p>So I bit my tongue,<br \/>\ngathered up my husband\u2019s fear,<br \/>\nand carried it around for years and years.<\/p>\n<p>\n<i>&#8220;It&#8217;s not easy for me to write a bio.  I&#8217;ve lived so long, nothing and<br \/>\neverything fits.  What I was seems to have no relationship to what I<br \/>\nam.
