{"id":247,"date":"2007-01-09T21:58:33","date_gmt":"2007-01-09T21:58:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/?p=247"},"modified":"2007-01-09T21:58:33","modified_gmt":"2007-01-09T21:58:33","slug":"poems-by-rati-saxena","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mahmag.org\/archive-english\/poems-by-rati-saxena\/","title":{"rendered":"Poems by: Rati Saxena"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b>They Are Talking About Globalization<\/b><\/p>\n<div class=\"rightbox\"><img src='https:\/\/mahmag.org\/nucleus-import\/media\/2\/20070110-rati.jpg' width='112' height='166' alt='null' \/><\/div>\n<p>Doors are banging<br \/>\nApproaching inside<br \/>\nDoorsteps have left the line<\/p>\n<p><!--more-->In the lungs of walls<br \/>\nSo much air has filled that<br \/>\nAll relationships got stuck<br \/>\nOn the wall without even nails<\/p>\n<p>Wind has made nests<br \/>\nIn the holes of windows<br \/>\nThere is no sound<br \/>\nEven of the breath of each other<\/p>\n<p>They are talking of globalization<br \/>\nHere home is shrinking<\/p>\n<p>The Talk Without Sight<\/p>\n<p>When you wanted to peep<br \/>\nInto my dark inner room<br \/>\nI presented you my very eyes<br \/>\nThen why did you hear<br \/>\nthe talk without sight?<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>A Faithful Prayer<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\nA deep love cannot take place<br \/>\nWithin a faithful prayer<br \/>\nIt is a sin to think about love<br \/>\nWithin a prayer<br \/>\nBut prayer within love!<br \/>\nIndeed that is the biggest virtue.<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>Maze<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\nHis sight started from<br \/>\nwhere his steps began<br \/>\nhis steps wandered there<br \/>\nwhere his mind was<br \/>\nhis mind remained there<br \/>\nwhere his steps and sight took him<\/p>\n<p>Ways became so narrow that<br \/>\nall of them got stuck<br \/>\nmind, sight and steps<\/p>\n<p>\n<b>What Does It Matter<\/b><\/p>\n<p>\nwhat does it matter<br \/>\nthey are our neighbours<br \/>\nwhat does it matter<br \/>\nthey are helpful in our joy and sorrow<br \/>\nwhat does it matter<br \/>\nthey speak our language<\/p>\n<p>only this matters:<br \/>\na hundred generations before<br \/>\nthey were not<br \/>\nwhat we were<\/p>\n<p>\nDr Rati Saxena &#8211;  is an eminent Hindi poet, translator and Sanskrit scholar. She has authored three collections of poems in Hindi (Maya mahathagini, ajanmi kavita ki kokh se, sapane dekhata samudra) and one each in English and Malayalam (in translation). Besides, she has written several research articles on Vedic literature and Indology and published critical studies. Her poems are translated in different languages like Malayalam, Punjabi, KonkaNi and Tamil etc. Rati Saxena\u2019 poetry represented in various journals of other part of world like \u2013Verasal ( Amsterdam, Netherlands and printed in Prague), Edgar literary Magazine (Texas) and gumball poetry etc. Thus establishing a sound reputation as an academic critic. Rati Saxena has translated 9 books from Malayalam to Hindi. Translations of some of the most well known Malayalam poems and novels have earned her nation-wide respect and recognition. She has written a book on famous poet of Malayalam -Balamaniyamma. Among the several awards she has received, the most coveted is the Kendra Sahitya  Akademi Award for Translation in 2000.
